인생은 랜덤이다
이번 맥월드 2005에 관한 타임스의 화보와 기사. 84년 화려하게 데뷰했다가 85년 파워 게임에서 밀려 NEXT를 차리고 망명해 있던 스티브 잡스가 97년에 다시 복귀하고 최근의 영광을 누리기까지 그의 파란만장한 삶을 간결하게 그려준다. 그리고 이런 인생 역정끝에 작년 여름 희귀한 췌장암(pancreatic cancer) 수술까지 받았는데, 이번 맥월드에 참석한 몇 몇 사람들이 이번 iPod셔플의 광고문구 "인생은 랜덤이다(Life is random)"를 그의 운명의 기복과 연관지어 이야기했다고 한다. 이에 대해 스티브 잡스는 광고 카피는 광고회사(TBWA\Chiat\Day)에서 만들었지만, 넘어온 광고 카피를 보고 이 의미에 대해 생각을 해봤다고 한다.

올렸다. 애플과 경쟁업계의 역사를 살피면서
왜 최근 애플의 결정이 옳은지, 그리고 왜 앞으로
애플의 자산들이 전망이 좋은지를 잘 적고 있다.
애플의 음반산업은 흉내낼수 없는 "absolute monopoly"라는
대목이 인상적이다.
640억달러 자산 가치의 MS가 이제 64억달러의 애플을
부러워해야 할 때라고 끝을 맺는다.

Mr. Gladwell speaks of a "second mind" that "sends its messages through weirdly indirect channels, like the sweat glands on the palms of our hands." He adds: "It's a system in which our brain reaches conclusions without immediately telling us that it's reaching conclusions."
Both slogans speak to the feeling that there's too much data and not enough knowledge, too many choices and not enough good ones, says Seth Godin, an author who focuses on marketing issues. "This desire to completely control the environment has started to unravel in the past five years," he said.
